White Oak Medical Center Hits Halfway Mark

  /  June 25, 2018

Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center is now more than halfway complete, with 400-plus construction workers on site bringing the hospital closer to welcoming its first patients next summer.

Leading up to the building’s topping out last fall, crews focused on preparing the site and finishing the hospital’s exterior. Early this year, work shifted to fitting out the interior and closing in the building, along with completing windows and flooring. Since then, the heating and cooling systems went online and mechanical and electrical work began to pave the way to install medical equipment.
This summer, five major projects connected to the White Oak Medical Center campus will be underway: the main hospital building, parking garage, adjacent Medical Office Building, central utility plant for the campus and the surrounding roadways that will bring patients to the new hospital.
“It’s tremendously rewarding to see our long-term vision of building a state-of-the-art hospital come into view,” said Geoff Morgan, Vice President and Project Executive at Washington Adventist Hospital who has worked at the hospital for more than 30 years.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, White Oak Medical Center will serve patients, families and caregivers in a healing environment with private rooms, the latest equipment and technology and comprehensive outpatient services.

The 430,000-square-foot facility will allow us to provide outstanding care in an environment that celebrates health, community and nature. White Oak Medical Center features an environmentally-sustainable design that incorporates the site’s woodland setting. Rooms with large windows and lake views will offer patients natural light and landscape views, which contribute to healing.

“Since our founding more than a century ago, we have continued to invest in our people and our facilities to better serve our patients,” added Morgan. “We are blessed to continue our legacy and are grateful for our generous partners who have stepped forward to join us in transforming our community.”
