Share a defining moment that led you to the fundraising/philanthropy sector.
I experienced the gratitude and personal satisfaction of an individual who gave back to her alma mater, Howard University, which she felt changed her life and circumstances for the better. It was because of experiences like this that I came to further appreciate the impact of philanthropy and chose to pursue it as a way to serve and work.
What drew you to the mission of Washington Adventist Hospital Foundation and Adventist HealthCare?
The bold position taken associated with extending God’s care “through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing” drew me to the mission of the Washington Adventist Hospital and Adventist HealthCare. This attraction became particularly important as my wife and I were looking for high-quality, compassionate maternity services. We chose Washington Adventist Hospital out of several we visited and received comprehensive services, extraordinary care and prayer that we are grateful for. My youngest son is now six and enjoying an active, healthy and blessed life.
What are you most looking forward to about advancing the Our Community Transformed campaign?
This is a very exciting time for our hospital and community as we carry forward the hospital’s long legacy of compassionate, whole-person care. I’m looking forward to helping individuals express support and gratitude for our healthcare services, and for care and ministry to be rendered via the new, state-of-the-art, Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from the joy and fruit of service.
